What is “ ITAPON ”?

For almost ten years there are a group of Christian including Thais and Foreigners who have shared about something in all of them to see the growing of Thai church and unity among the Christian people here.

At first they don’t’ have any exactly word to call for their inside thing go when ever they mention about this thing they always use the word “IT”

There was a day that they sat down together and try to find some word that would represent “IT” and they agreed with a word from That dictionary “ITAPON” with is a combination of 2 Thai words.

“IT” which mean “ brick” and “PON” mean “ result, fruit, and deed”

Other aims that have been accepted among member of the group are the opportunities to develop the Christian relationship among them and with the people they do their work with; also building the Christian characters that would shine out in their working life esp. responsibilities, quality and efficiency of the work which will support their whole Christian life.

The whole meaning which can be “the solid result or deed” and can also be” the fruit that is satisfy”.

Someone had mentioned about a Thai word that is close sound with “ITAPON” which is “ITIPON” even these different in Thai spelling at all. He shared that even these two words are close in sound but far different meaning.

“ITIPON” mean influences with now a day are use for not good influence. So, there are some try to explain that these words come from the opposite side at all, one from the “Dark” and another from the “Light”.

Another area that these people did is they don’t try to put on some form or structure to the “ ITAPON ”. They just let it as a kind of movement among them and share it with other.

Anyway, by now there are two developing ministry that have their root in this “ITAPON”

“Narada Orphanage” in Sanpathong which is under the Itapon Foundation, the charitable foundation that aims to evangelist to the people in that village through their lives and living among the village. Dr.Chiyan Ukosakun is the director of this foundation.

Another one is “Itapon Ministry Group (IMG)”
